Remember doing this as a kid? Log rolling down a grassy hill was so much fun. You didn’t care how itchy you were going to be. You giggled and wobbled back up to the top to do it again.
I hope that’s the way you are feeling right now during our preparation for God’s plans because we are on that downhill slide! This weekend we stepped over the half-way mark of our 40 day journey. Can you feel the hill sloping beneath you? Are you gaining momentum?
While praying for you this weekend, I thought I would check out Psalm 20 (half of 40, get it?) to see if God would whisper to us through His Word. What I read brought tears to my eyes and made me feel as joyful as a kid rolling down a soft hill.
Wanna join me? I’d like to go again. Let’s read Psalm 20 (NASB) together:
“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! May He send you help from the sanctuary and support you from Zion! May He remember all your meal offerings and find your burnt offering acceptable!
May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God. They have bowed down and fallen, but we have risen and stood upright. Save, O Lord; May the King answer us in the day we call.”
Oh there it is, I’m giddy! Here’s what I feel and sense when I read this (don’t judge me!):
I feel prayed over. I feel as though Jesus has asked the Father for all these things for us. I feel like Jesus is cheering us on for each step we are taking towards our calling. I sense that our prayers are being heard and our efforts are being noticed by our Savior.
And then the wobbling dizziness sets in when I think that God really DID whisper something to us. I feel like I asked for a “sign” from God to share with you, and I got one! The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, our Helper, our Teacher, who is promised to all those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God. I don’t think it’s coincidence that I thought of searching Psalm 20 for something to encourage us. I think it was the Holy Spirit.
Go ahead, roll down that hill again ~ it really is wonderful. Let go of any limits you’ve placed on God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. Consider that the Creator of the universe loves you, is watching you, and desires to sit and talk with you.
Whew ~ I’m a little dizzy. Anyone else?
