The End is Just the Beginning

Our 21-Day Walk By Faith journey is finished! We did it. We dreamed. We searched. We prayed.

But, today is not the end of our journey. We are just beginning. Let us run the race set before us. Today, I am making another commitment. Will you join me during this next step?

For the next 40 days, I will consider myself in preparation for the plans God has for me. Each day for the next 40 days, I will take one small step towards my dream. Will you?

Here’s where the rubber meets the road. Journaling and dreaming are fun. Just us and God. Such sweetness. But now, the real test is whether we have the guts to follow through. Do we REALLY want to pursue that dream? Or not?

When God was about to move the Jewish people into the promised land (finally! it took a really long time, so we won’t feel bad if we must endure a “wondering in the desert” stage), the river they had to cross was at flood stage.

With the recent hurricanes, we’ve all seen what water looks like at “flood stage.” Yet, God told Joshua that now was the time to cross. God told Joshua He would give the people another sign (like with Moses) that the Lord was helping Joshua lead the Jewish people: He would part the water again.

But this time, the priests would have to step into the water first:

So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest), 16 the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho. 17 Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan.” ~Joshua 3:14-17

The servants of the Lord had to wade into the water before God would make a way for them. The priests had to do their part. They had to carry the ark of the covenant and wade into the flood waters.

That’s us right now folks. It’s time to pick up our tasks and wade into the work.

Can you picture it this way? With Jesus helping? If He showed up and offered to carry our worries, some of our burden, wouldn’t it be easy to keep taking steps behind Jesus?

If I could just see Him with my own eyes, I would probably stumble in my hurry to get alongside Him. Wherever He was going, I would shout “wait up!” and run after Him.

As I picture walking along with Jesus, such joy and excitement fills my heart. I don’t want to wait until I see Him face to face. I want to live in such joy now! Every. Single. Day. No excuses.

I want to push myself to take just one step each day. I plan to choose one task toward my dream each morning, and then make sure it gets done before I turn out the lights at night.

So, the next 40 days will be a “Prepare for His Plans” journey. Will you join me? Hit the “Subscribe” button and let’s get our feet dusty and dirty!
